The care for a Bonsai
in Thailand.
If you start making Bonsai in Thailand. You can start same
as when you make bonsai any where in the world only the seasons in Thailand
are different. Not different as in Months but different in temperature.
Although in Thailand they have a colder season ( November-February).
It doesn't mean cold as cold in Europe or America.
The temperatures in November-February are still in the 23 degrees.
Trees lose their leaves and go in rest to but you still have to
give them plenty water all of these months.
The rest of the year it is best to keep your trees out of the sun
at any time. Yes some trees prefer sun but the sun here so strong that
your tree will burn .If you want to put your tree outside you can make
a roof over it, that let true some of the sun but not al.
For example you put your tree in the full sun and go to work .Here
people leave at 6 am to work you have watered your tree and go to work
.When you come back in the evening around 7 pm you will find a tree standing
in dry soil .YOU will think it needs water ,yes it does but put it in the
shade first let it cool down and give little water at each time. If you
lucky your tree will survive this and grow.
Bonsai making in Thailand keeps the same in all times you just have
to be aware that You live in a land that has always sun and always temperatures
above 23 degrees. If you keep this in mind and give your tree good water
and care you will have no problems at all.
Water in Thailand from the tap contains chlorine but in my experience
the trees don’t mind that..Rain water is always better but not
always available.
I can say when and what you have to do. But it's better if
you look at your tree.
A tree can say you more by the way it looks, Then all then all the
books About Bonsai.
Put a chop stick 30 minutes in the soil and take it out .The chop
stick will show you if their is enough water or not.
Typical trees
for Thailand.
I have listed the details about Species and Styles used in Thailand.
Species:- Among favourite species used to make bonsai in Thailand
are the persimmon tree, or tako, betel palm, mak, banyan
tree, sai, bo tree, tamarind, makham, and wild lemon, manao pah.
Styles:- The most simple, classic style is song ton, or formal
upright style. In this design the tree resembles an ordinary tree in
the forest, with erect trunk, horizontal branches and foliage arranged
in a loose pyramidal formation.
A little bit more complicated is the slanting style, or ain chai,
characterised
by the trunk leaning at a slightly acute angle. Slanting trees in nature
are called "leaners" - trees that have been forced by the wind and gravity
into non-vertical growth. The sensational variation of ain chai is loo
lom, or windswept, whose trunk, leaves and branches are swayed correspondingly
into a certain direction imitating the effect of a gusty terrain.
Even more dramatic and requiring more perseverance in the process
is the cascade style, or tok kra thang. Here the trunk starts by
growing upward from the soil, then turns downward abruptly and flows down
outside the pot like a meandering brook until its top reaches a point below
the bottom of its container, with most of the foliage below the soil surface.
A cascaded planting is an attempt to simulate a tree snaking down
the face of an embankment. In a less elaborate semi-cascade style, or kueng
tok tra thang, the trunk is allowed to grow straight before*descending
at a less steep angle.
Then there is beauty in death. "Tai sak", or decaying plant,
is a bonsai inspired by dying trees whose trunks give the illusion of natural
decadence. Nature does this with lightning.
Creativity is taken to the extreme in "koh hin", or "on the rock",
design, as the roots of the tree are prolonged and trained to entwine around
a rock like clenched, bony fingers.

Having a Bonsai tree in Thailand.
There are many websites about tips and Tricks for you Bonsai tree. Well
believe me they do not apply in Thailand. Thailand has a warm climate with
all Year long temperatures around 22 up to 34 degrees. Except in the north
of Thailand in the mountains of Doi ang Khang.
So all tips about watering and care are different when you live in
Thailand.
With this website, I will try to give you as much and good information
about trees and their care, Because Thailand has different trees as Bonsai
then the rest of the world. Example you read and see often pictures about
beautiful Japanese trees such as Japanese Maples. Nevertheless, keeping
them in Thailand needs a lot of care. These trees are not used for high
temperatures and damp air .Like wise for all pine trees. However, it is
possible but intensive work.
Are you up to it??
